SNAP CCDs

We are hybridizing and packaging CCDs fabricated by LBNL for use in the Supernova / Acceleration Probe (SNAP) project.  We have designed and developed an aluminum nitride hybridization substrate with laser-drilled and filled vias to provide a nearly fully buttable package.  This work is based on our Fully Buttable Imager (FBI) technology.

Packaging uses an optimized packaging jig to obtain surface flatness near 10 microns peak-valley and focal plane position to within 5 microns of the target location.

See the SNAP web site at LBNL for more project information.
