ATLAS discovers first-of-its-kind asteroid

The University of Hawaiʻi's Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) has discovered the first known Jupiter Trojan asteroid to have sprouted a comet-like tail.   See http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/info/press-releases/2019LD2/ for more information.

 

ATLAS uses two STA1600 10kx10k pixel CCDs which were backside processed at ITL.
